Recently, the club SkyHigh Architects came up with the idea to create a trail or park in the empty lot across from Kempner High School. With big hopes in each of the members’ hearts, they plan to create an overview of how the place will be transformed.
The club plans on working on the project for a few months before sending out the final draft that they have in mind to the city Sugar Land. Each member of the club will pitch in to research a part of the area to see what type of wildlife will be attracted to it and what type of trees will grow best in the drainage area. They will also be looking for the cheapest and low costing items that can be easily be cared for so the city won’t have to worry about the trail as much.
But, where is the place that the club is going to create the park? It is simply the empty spot right across Voss Road with the flood-ditch in the center of the area. That’s why the club plans to find what research what type of creatures or plants will best be suited for the environment.
The design of the trail will try to attract small mammals such as, squirrels and possums and even possibly raccoons and rabbits to the area. The plant life that they plan to use will consist of willow trees and small wild flowers that can make the area as neat and clean as possible, they are even planning to create something that will utilize the beauty of Sugar Land when the bluebonnets will bloom in March to make the area as beautiful as ever.
To even make it easier for the runners or students that plan to take the trail, they are planning to create a bridge that will connect one side to the other for walkers to easily go home.
“The thought of the trail makes me so excited!” said Vice President, Ruhi Merani, “This is going to be something that could change the life of all Kempner students.”
Although there is a problem about the funding for the project, the club plans on showing their idea to the governors of Sugar Land to approve of the project. Once the club has finalized their ideas, the club sponsor, Mr. Rainey, and a few of the club officers will go up to the city and see if their ideas are accepted.
“We hope that our plans will be accepted, this will beautify Kempner in a way never seen before” said the club president. The club hopes that when the politicians see the idea, they will wonder why they didn’t come up with the plan and how mere high school students came up with the idea.
So when can people gear up for the construction and know when the will be finished? The club is hoping that by the time they graduate, they will get to see the final product of their hard work when they drive to school. That is if they can make it through the politicians of Sugar Land.
