“Medicine is the number one hiring field in America,” said Allyn Rogers, HOSA and Operation Smile advisor and Medical Anatomy teacher. “It is a great career area: job stability and it will only get better.”
“You learn a lot of information about the types of jobs in the Medical Field,” said Jacob Blotter (12). If you are interested in the medical field this is an important class to take. It is a hands-on experience in which medical professionals come and speak, you make clay models of organs, dissect body parts, and study terminology, anatomy, physiology, and case studies. “Over half the jobs in a hospital require nothing more than a medical anatomy class in high school,” said Rogers.
Medical Anatomy takes up two class periods for an entire year because you cover so much material: it is a Concurrent Enrollment (CE) class and gives you five college credits. “Mostly it is studying,” said Alex Olausson (11). “You get pictures and label and color it. Homework assignments are mostly done in class.”
With that being said, this class may not be for everyone. “People who want an easy “A” shouldn’t take this class,” said Olausson. “Also, if you aren’t interested in Medical Anatomy, you shouldn’t.”
