The last time the Marvin Ridge Mavericks met the Porter Ridge Pirates, we were outscored by six points.
In the first quarter of the varsity girls’ team, Erica White fouled, but came back with a free throw scoring two points. When the buzzer rang, the score was 14-2 with Porter Ridge in the lead.
In the second quarter, Chelsey Horan scored three points, bringing the Lady Mavs up to five points in total. At the end of the quarter, the score was 20-8 Porter Ridge.
By third quarter, Toni Lashley scored two points and one free throw in the third quarter. At the end, the Pirates were still in the lead, 38-15.
It all came down to the fourth quarter. Tension rose, and the screaming got louder. Katie Agres scored a whopping three points, and Chelsey Horan, Casey Tarwater, and Rachel Walker scored two points each.
At the end of the game, the score was 51-28. Despite of the loss, the Lady Mavericks still put forth their best effort and stayed strong in the game.
